Toward a society where everyone can pursue their dreams
OUR VISION

Our vision is to help create a society where everyone can pursue their dreams, regardless of the circumstances they were born into.
This vision reflects our strong belief that no child should lose the opportunity to challenge themselves due to economic hardship, family background, or other social barriers. The word “Dream” in our organization’s name—Dream Sustainability Japan (DSJP)—embodies this very idea. Through our years of involvement in nonprofit activities, we have witnessed firsthand how many organizations struggle to continue their efforts due to financial limitations. These experiences led us to the realization that many social issues, especially those deeply rooted in economic challenges, require sustainable approaches for lasting solutions. By integrating social business ideas, we aim to address social issues sustainably—ensuring continued impact over time. The term “Sustainability” in our name represents this commitment.

Dream Sustainability Japan is engaged in a wide range of initiatives, including international cooperation projects abroad, global education programs in Japan, and domestic support for children. Our organization is currently driven primarily by university students, and we are actively involved in projects across Japan and around the world. Guided by the belief that “children and young people can be agents of social change,” we empower youth to take action and contribute to building a better society.

Launch of Dream Sustainability Japan
The Background to Our Incorporation

In September 2021, when our current representative, Hakoda, and board member, Sawai, were in their first year of high school, they founded Turcks, a student-led voluntary organization that would later evolve into Dream Sustainability Japan. Turcks primarily focused on international cooperation activities. Its initiatives included launching a crowdfunding campaign to build water facilities in Kenya, as well as promoting fair trade by selling fair trade goods within local communities. Through these experiences, and inspired by the new friends they met during high school who shared similar values, the members began to dream of expanding their efforts to reach and support even more people. This shared vision led them to pursue legal incorporation. During their third year of high school—despite the demands of university entrance exams—nearly all members actively participated in discussions and planning sessions to establish Dream Sustainability Japan as an officially registered organization. They held numerous meetings, balancing their academic responsibilities with a strong commitment to building a sustainable future through action.

In May 2023, we renamed our organization to Dream Sustainability Japan, officially beginning a new chapter as DSJP. Although our members were in the midst of their university entrance exams at the time, we successfully submitted the incorporation documents to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2024 and officially became a registered organization in November 2024. Today, our organization is led by current university students who are actively working toward our vision: “Creating a society where everyone can pursue their dreams, regardless of the circumstances they were born into.” Beginning in fiscal year 2025, we will also place a strong focus on our global education programs within Japan, further expanding our impact both locally and globally.
